easyJet is Europe's leading budget airline, operating on over 600 routes across 30 countries with a fleet of over 200 aircraft. They employ over 8,000 people including 2,000 pilots and 4,500 cabin crew. In 2015 they served over 55 million passengers and reported a pre-tax profit of £581 million.

The challenge

easyJet decided to take the initiative to provide an option to make it easy and quick to make a holiday decision based on loose personal preferences and intuitions as opposed to specific destinations that the customer had already decided upon.

But before embarking on a full-scale implementation easyJet would need a rapid prototype to be developed to test the concept. Although easyJet already employs a large team of developers based in Luton, they wanted an agile, cost-effective and innovative company to get it done in a short timescale.

They approached Geeks to create this prototype.

The solution

The solution

Geeks designed and developed an extremely user-friendly, fast and interactive online tool called “Inspire Me” for easyJet to change the game in the online flight booking space.

Using the latest technologies and methods in modern web development, Geeks delivered this solution, powered by Geeks' M# technology and the Microsoft .NET platform. It was integrated with easyJet's existing pricing and booking APIs.

The app is fully mobile-compatible, uses a native iOS application and works across all platforms including tablets and smartphones.

After passing testing, it was then used as the basis of the full-scale implementation by easyJet's in-house team in line with their standard policy.

By creating this successful proof of concept tool Geeks were able to validate easyJet's idea and pave the way for full implementation of this powerful holiday-choosing solution.

The full "Inspire Me" application is a major part of easyJet's website. easyJet's business model is organised around dynamic strategies to expand its reach and market share in a very competitive sector. "Inspire Me" is a part of its digital strategy of innovation which aims to make travel easy and affordable for customers.
