Tristel is an industry leading manufacturer of infection control, contamination control and hygiene products. Tristel was founded in 1993 with the aim of improving the disinfection process across the globe.

Tristel have been accredited with ISO 9001: 2008 and BS EN 13485:8003 as a manufacturer of high‐level disinfectants. Tristel are continuing on their mission to be the leading recognised force in the global infection control industry.

Following their success in the U.K., Tristel now operate in hospitals across Continental Europe, the Middle and Far East, including in remote locations with minimal or no internet.

The challenge

Following their huge global success, Tristel wanted to introduce an innovative method to save their customers time, whilst also making the disinfection process safer.

Disinfection logs were previously hand‐written and time consuming for medical staff to complete. Manuals for cleaning equipment were also available online only. This meant that medical staff were required to use numerous sources to complete their daily tasks, requiring additional time, and increasing the risk of cross-contamination.

Tristel's goal was to introduce a mobile app to streamline this process for medical staff, to consolidate all information into one central location and to hold all data electronically to save medical staff time and effort. Using voice control means that the risk of cross-contamination is lowered dramatically, and the offline capabilities mean that the app can be used in remote locations with limited or no internet.

The solution

The solution

Geeks and Tristel worked collaboratively to develop Tristel's Duo ULT mobile app. Duo ULT is a leading product developed by Tristel and therefore was chosen to be the pilot for the app. The app went live in July 2018.

The mobile app demonstrates how to disinfect equipment using Duo ULT, in the form of short video tutorials. The app makes use of voice command so that the user does not have to touch the mobile device whilst disinfecting equipment, therefore reducing the risk of any cross‐contamination.

Duo ULT's mobile app further allows the medical staff users to upload disinfection logs electronically, saving time on day-to-day tasks. The app developed by Geeks allows this all to work seamlessly, even without an internet connection, therefore allowing Tristel to distribute this app worldwide.
